Monday, March 1 class and Wednesday, March 3

Hey guys,

Monday's class will be in the painting lab for the ceramics workshop. If you are an art major you must attend both days. I will be looking for you in the time slot of 9 to 9:50 and taking attendance for class. Make sure you that bring your sketchbook or laptop so that you might be able to work while you watch.

Wednesday's class - I need all the roughs of your forms, business package as well as the files for your progress on the film festival. Please make sure that all your assignments are ready to go. See you then!

-logo
-letterhead
-envelope
-business card
-website

Business forms / job folder (check your e-mail for the ugly version of these forms)
-approval sheets / change sheets
-invoice
-client brief / creative strategy form
-printer quote
-client questionare
-travel reimbursement
-creative checklist
-non-disclosure agreement
-acceptance of proposal

We will go over website / blog publishing on Friday. Be sure to make sure that you have your images of your portfolio. If you don't have these please make sure that you shoot your images soon! Will need to have a working site by next week Friday.

Wed. Feb 24

Please read the Rudy VanLands interview out of Adrian's book. Also be working on your logo and business card package. Ash should be sending out the film festival logo and needed materials. You have your assignments. If you have any questions about design please field them to her.

DON'T FORGET ABOUT AIGA MEETING MONDAY NIGHT!! 7 PM great pizza, movies and randomness.

Monday, Feb. 22

Create a logo and a look for your own freelance business. You can dub it with an agency name and branding / with a worker of one:) or you can just brand yourself. We will be designing like mad this coming week...forms, resume, website....so be thinking about the logo living in all those formats. Also read over the freelance chapter out of Adrian's book.

Okay guys...critique day on Friday. You know the drill:) Don't forget your design brief in your folder. Also please on a typed sheet list out billable hours. We will use this next week when we start to do invoicing and backend stuff. Please have this in your folder when you turn in your final. Make sure that you have things printed out and mounted.

Monday

Revise your design brief. Make sure that you have subheads...not just numbers. Format like you would present to client. Have this printed and ready to go. Also, have a final version of the Variety Show logo. Send me a pdf of this when you are set. Finally keep working on your package. Got to keep going on this. Monday will be a work day, bring everything you need. No reading for this weekend.

So make sure that you have your design brief ready to go for Wednesday. Keep working on your identity and developing out your ideas. Also if you can have a working rough of the variety show logo for Wednesday that would be great. Please read the Neville Brody interview at the end of the "Attributes of a Modern Designer" for class as well. Again...if someone could get Katy the notes from class today that would be much appreciated. Thanks again guys....and enjoy the snow!

Make sure that you have some extensive research done concerning the culture of film festivals and the perception of the film festival at Union. Have this information printed off and included in your job folder. Also make sure that you getting started in the branding process. Start listing out some ideas that you might have for possible materials to include and create the structure for the overall brand / culture.
